New paintings, hot off the easel, and some thoughts on art and life ...

New Painting, "Little Buddha"

I've always thought this little Buddha statue belonged in a painting. It belongs to my daughter-in-law and she's always kept it sitting on the kitchen counter. She and my son have a beautiful family home filled with lively children (my grandchildren, so of course I mean beautiful, intelligent children) and little Buddha is a calm counterpoint to the pandemonium that kids sometimes bring.

I painted this in April, when sweet peas were blooming in my garden. I made a smaller version first, then this larger one. I like them both. This one is especially quiet and peaceful - appropriate for a painting called Little Buddha.
