New paintings, hot off the easel, and some thoughts on art and life ...

I just finished a large triptych of dahlias. I call it "The Midnight Garden." It was started as part of my "Artist's Year in the Garden" project, which is now over, but it took me a long time to finish. It kept expanding. It started with wanting to paint something similar to a small painting called "Pink Dahlia" and ended up being the triptych shown here. I'm happy with it, but also glad it's finished! It took longer than most of my paintings, because it's much larger (24 x 50").
