What a tidy and user-friendly studio. The wall cubbies for various types of paint are especially nice.

I wish I had a big spacious studio like you see in art magazines. Sometimes I daydream about how I'd furnish my dream work space. But ... the reality is that I paint in a bedroom that's only 10 by 12 1/2 feet.
The good news is that over the years it's evolved and I've refined my routines so that even that tiny space is functional. I made a short video and posted it to YouTube - click here to go there now and take a look. I'll wait.
Oh, you're back? What did you think? I know I'm not the only one who paints in a small space, and if you have a great small space set up I'd love to hear from you. How do you make it work?
I've found it's important to be able to get at the things I need quickly. That's why all my paints are in the wall-hung cubbies. I keep lots of things out on my work tables, like my brushes, standing up in old vases filled with dried beans. They may not show too well in the video but there are also flat trays on the table for other essential stuff: pencils, erasers, scissors, tape, brush soap, etc.
Staying organized is the key thing for me. And in case you were wondering as you watched the video -- yes, I really am that freakishly neat.
