New paintings, hot off the easel, and some thoughts on art and life ...

I was on vacation for a week, then I got stuck on a painting, so it's been a while since I posted new work. But now finally I have a finished painting, "Rose Duet." I enjoyed this one and it came together quickly. I painted it entirely from life - just a little bouquet set up on my studio desk. As usual, I took liberties with some of the details. The two roses were "Abraham Darby" and "French Lace."  I wrote about them recently in my garden blog.

The painting I got stuck on is still in the studio, and I'll get back to it eventually, but sometimes you just have to move on! Someday soon I'll be inspired to solve its artistic problems, but not today. You artists out there know what I'm talkin' about!
