New paintings, hot off the easel, and some thoughts on art and life ...

White hydrangeas, floating in a sea of blue and gray. That's how I came to think of this image as I was painting, so I called it "Islands." I worked entirely from life, keeping two pots of hydrangeas near my easel the whole time I was painting. One white and one lavender with green centers. The blue in this painting wasn't really there, but what the heck - I'm an artist and I get to paint what I want.
