New paintings, hot off the easel, and some thoughts on art and life ...

The Flower Shop

Lately I've been experimenting with markers. Sophisticated, artist markers of course, but markers just the same. I've been making little fast sketches, keeping them a bit sloppy and scribbly. The sketch of roses below is what started it all. I liked it, so I went on to make the two drawings below that.

Then I went on to make the larger "painting" at the top of this post, which I call "The Flower Shop."  I tried to keep these light and breezy - I wanted them to look like I  was just playing around with markers. The markers I used are Tombow DualBrush Pens - they're fantastic!

I'll have some of these marker drawings, matted and ready to frame, at my upcoming Open Studio on May 16-17.
