Path to the Beach, South Carolina
This painting - one of my rare landscapes - was inspired by my recent trip to South Carolina. The town where I stayed had many paths through the neighborhoods, leading down to the ocean. I'm from the other coast, so the beaches looked different from what I see in California, but both are beautiful.
Why is it that I don't often paint landscapes? Were you about to ask me that? I think it's because I'm more interested in things up close, and maybe that's because I'm nearsighted. It's as good a theory as any.
