New paintings, hot off the easel, and some thoughts on art and life ...

On the Easel Now

I don't often paint landscapes because I (usually) don't enjoy painting them and I (usually) don't like the result. But with this one - so far, so good. This is a path to the beach in South Carolina - on Sullivan's Island to be exact. I took some photos while I was at a Susan Lyon workshop a couple of months ago. She's a wonderful teacher and I enjoyed everything about the workshop experience, including a talk by artist Mary Whyte and the chance to explore the Charleston area. And now I may have a good painting out of it too!
